Travellers can reach the Field Station by flying to Winnipeg International Airport (YWG) and proceeding on the Trans-Canada Highway (#1) by car or bus to the town of Portage la Prairie, 70 kilometers west of Winnipeg. From Portage la Prairie, travel north to the Field Station (30 kilometers) along provincial road #240 then #227. The Field Station is located off the northernmost point of the all-weather road on the west bank of the Assiniboine River Diversion that crosses highway #227. Car travel to the Field Station is possible year-round.
